Ubuntu, for many, is about speed and productivity. And looks. And ease of use. One of the best ways to increase your productivity in the Gnome environment is Gnome-Do (reviewed previously). Do has a ton of great plugins, with descriptors on usage and modification on the wiki. A great plugin for Do is TinyURL, which is in the community plugins section. To turn it on, go to Gnome-Do preferences, search for TinyURL in the plugins tab, and make sure it is checked. Here is a great usage, making a link to a favorite cooking blog, for gluten free molasses cookies.\
1. Open the gnome-do window
2. paste your url in the first box,
3. hit tab
4. type in t,i,n. this should bring up the tinyurl option. hit enter
5. you now have your TinyURL generated. You may visit the site by hitting enter, or...
6. hit tab. type in copy, and hit enter. it is now copied to your clipboard!
This whole process takes about 1-2 seconds. And you never have to remove your hands from the keyboard. It is a super-quick way of producing shortened urls and have them in your clipboard. See pictures below for visual depictions of the above-mentioned instructions.
